Add to it all that some brand new computers still won't be able to play the games because their hardware got outdated in the week between it being purchased & the game being purchased. Sorry, I just dropped a few bills for this PC & now I need to drop more? Nope! Not gonna happen.
Of course it could just be the game companies choosing to make things unplayable so you get the "console experience" (PS don't play on XBOX etc...)of not having the "right" system?
I think it's largely due to designers just not having enough time to put the final polish on their games. Publishers are far more concerned with getting a title released asap, especially sequels to popular games, in order to cash in that they don't care about much else.
